Gregory Bateson

Gregory Bateson (Grantchester, 9 May 1904 - San Francisco, 4 July 1980)
Gregory Bateson was a British anthropologist, social scientist, linguist and visual anthropologist.

Gregory Bateson His most famous work is the book Steps to an Ecology of Mind. He also wrote Mind and Nature (1979). Angels Fear was published posthumously in 1987.

The model of the (neuro) logical levels was thought of by Gregory Bateson. It was later further developed and introduced within NLP by NLP expert Robert Dilts. The logic levels are useful in the analysis of relationships and situations. It may also help in gaining insight into their own and other people's model of the world. It confirms that the experiences of many people with undesirable behaviour persists even if the person changes his environment. The same pattern is visible again after a period of time.

Everyone lives simultaneously at 6 levels (conscious and unconscious). All levels work together and support each other. Lower levels can affect higher levels, higher affect in any case the lower, both empowering and limiting. The higher the level at which you make changes, the stronger and more durable the effect will be. When the logic levels conform with each other, you get congruent behaviour.
