Swish pattern

The swish pattern is a technique based on submodalities replacing unwanted (small) habits with more acceptable behaviour.

Unwanted habits

A habit is a recurring pattern of behaviour that is performed to satisfy a desire or a need.
Unwanted habits are like a guided missile in the mind. If we were able to change the direction of that missile (unwanted habit) conscious, we should have changed it already a long time ago.

New habits

With the Swish Pattern technique we are not trying to let the unwanted habbit disappear, but we are guiding it another way, to the new, positive and empowering response. We use this technique to re-direct our brain towards a new wanted directional focus.
All that matters is that it is an exact behaviour that you would like to change – to replace with a new positive and empowering response.

Examples:

  1. Snapping fingers --> Rubbing hands
  2. Nail biting --> Looking at the nails
